4.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)

Falck et al. (2019: 37) erläutern: "The species name tricolorella, meaning three-coloured, refers to the colours of the forewings of the new species."

4.2. Taxonomie

Falck et al. (2019) hatten die Art gründlich beschrieben und ihre Artberechtigung begründet. Falck et al. (2022: 471) überraschen jetzt mit den Zeilen: "Pima tricolorella Falck, Karsholt & Slamka, 2019, sp. rev. The status of this species, described by us from Lanzarote and Fuerteventura in our earlier paper on Pyraloidea of the Canary Islands (FALCK et al., 2019: 35-37) was recently changed by LERAUT (2021a:184, 318; 2021b: 89) into a subspecies of Pima aureliae Leraut, 1914 from Tunisia. We disagree in this for the following reasons: [...]". Es folgt eine ausführliche Begründung, die rundum überzeugt. Die beiden zitierten Arbeiten von Guillaume Leraut stehen mir bisher nicht zur Verfügung.

Die Art ist derzeit nur von den Kanarischen Inseln Fuerteventura und Lanzarote bekannt.
