Nach Hofmann & Tremewan (2005: 19) und Hofmann & Tremewan (2020: 571-573) erfolgt die Eiablage an einer nicht bis auf Artniveau bestimmten haarigen Astragalus-Art.

3.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)

Hofmann & Tremewan (2005: 18) erläutern: "Derivatio nominis : dedicated to the Bakhtiyari nomads who bring their flocks to the Zarde Kuh region in summer."

3.2. Taxonomie

Hofmann & Tremewan (2020: 557) stellen Zygaena bakhtiyari in die Untergattung Agrumenia und dort als dritte Art in die Z. fraxini-group. Die Art ist nahe verwandt mit Z. rosinae, aber sowohl ökologisch als auch phänotypisch klar von jener Art getrennt.

3.3. Faunistik

Die Art ist bislang nur vom locus typicus, Gardaneh-ye Cheri (Çahārmahāl-va-Bakhtiyāri) im Zāgros-Gebirge im Iran aus Höhenlagen von 2800-3150 m bekannt. Das Vorkommen liegt rund 100 km entfernt von der nächstbekannten Fundstelle von Z. rosinae auf der Südseite jenes Gebirges, während Z. rosinae auf dessen Nordseite beschränkt ist.
