According to [Global Biodiversity Information Facility] the species occurs in Australia, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Pakistan, India, China, Philippines, Malaysia, Laos, Hongkong, Singapur and Vietnam.
Kuchlein & de Vos (1999: 136) report on the discovery of a dislocated specimen in The Netherlands: "[16] In 1993 an imported specimen of Theretra oldenlandiae (Fabricius, 1775), originating from Indonesia, was recieved and determined by the Plant Protection Service in Wageningen (G. Romeijn, i.l.)."
