3. Weitere Informationen

3.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)

Slagsvold et al. (2026) erklären: "The name is derived from Madares (Cretan Greek: Μαδάρες), the old local designation of Lefka Ori (White Mountains) and the feminine form of incolus; “inhabitant” – “The one that lives in the Madares mountains”, where the type series was collected."

Zum Ersteren schreiben Slagsvold et al. (2026): "The most prominent external difference is in the colour of the tarsi (Figs 9, 10). In R. madaricola sp. nov., they are black with contrasting off-white ringed margins (Fig. 10a) whereas in R. formosa, they are less contrasting brownish with less evident light rings (Fig. 10b)."

Zum Barcode ist zu erfahren: "The two CO1 sequences from our specimens were 646 bp and 658 bp in length and included no ambiguous nucleotide sites detected by BOLD Systems. Along with one sequence from a specimen collected in the same area (BOLD process ID: PYRCR038-11), our sequences form a well-defined cluster in both the NJ and ML analyses (Fig. 21), with strong bootstrap support and their own exclusive BIN designation: BOLD:AAY8769. The minimum genetic distance between R. madaricola sp. nov. and R. formosa in this dataset is 2.35%. Excluding a sequence from Finland, the minimum distance to the main clade of R. formosa is 2.66%."
