3.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)

Slamka (2019: 162) erläutert: "The species name asselbergsi is derived from the name of Jan Asselbrgs a Dutch lepidopterologist and an expert in Pyraloidea.

3.2. Taxonomie und Faunistik

Die Art wurde von Aseelbergs (2009: 56: Abb. 5) ursprünglich als "Phycita mianella" aus der Provinz Mersin in der Türkei gemeldet. Erst Slamka (2019: 161-162) beschrieb sie dann als neue Art: Phycita asselbergsi. Sie ist derzeit nur aus den Provinzen Mersin und Konia in der Türkei bekannt.
