Die Art wurde von Ragonot (1887: 232) aus "Marghilan, Namangan" beschrieben, also aus Usbekistan. Gleiches gilt für das Synonym Nephopteryx gengisella. Slamka (2019: 63) nennt zusätzlich Turkmenistan und Kirgisistan.
