Falck et al. (2022: 477) erläutern: "Etymology: The species is named after the town Los Gigantes, situated at north-west coast of the island of Tenerife, where most of the specimens were collected."

Nach Falck et al. (2022: 477) schreiben zur Verbreitung der Art: "Only known from two localities in the north-western part of the island of Tenerife, Spain." Es dürfte sich um einen Endemiten der Kanarischen Inseln handeln.
