Bassi (1999: 350) beschrieb die Art nach einem einzigen ♂: “Holotypus ♂: F. 5-VII, Trebevic, Serajevo [sic, Anm. Red. Lepiforum], 1902, 43, Crambus ab catoptrellus Coll. Krone, myellus ab form det. Zerny, Holotypus Catoptria captiva sp. n. G. Bassi det. 1995, GS 3510 GB, HNHM.”
