Landry & Wright (1993: 560): “The species is named after the first name of the collector of the type series.”

Landry & Wright (1993: 560): “4 ♂♂. HOLOTYPE ♂ in USNM, labeled: “Gainesville,/ Fla. [Florida] viii.26.1966” “Ladonia O'Berry,/ coll.”; genitalia on slide JFL 639. The holotype is spread and double-mounted, but rubbed and damaged; both antennae are broken, the left one near the base and the right one near the middle; the entire left foreleg and the tarsi of all other legs are missing; the forewings are somewhat rubbed in the proximal half. PARATYPES: 3 ♂♂, same data as holotype except one dated 24.viii.1966, and another dated 12.ix.1966 (2 ♂♂ in USM, genitalia on slides JFL 610 and JFL 729; 1 ♂ in CNC, genitalia on slide JFL 721).”
