3.1. Etymologie (Namenserkklärung)

Li (2004: 314) erklärt: "The specific name is derived from the Latin acanthus (= spined), abortivus (= vestigial), indicating that the ductus bursae lacks spinulate section in the female genitalia."

Nach Li (2004: 314) gehört die Art in die "Coleophora sternipennella group".

3.3. Faunistik

Die Art wurde aus der Inneren Mongolei im Nordosten Chinas beschrieben und ist nur durch die beiden Weibchen der Erstbeschreibung bekannt.

Li (2004: 314) informiert: "Holotype ♀, Chifeng (Ulanhad) (4212°N, 11819°E), Inner Mongolia, alt. 590 m, 3 Aug. 1997, leg. LI Hou-Hun, genitalia slide No. L97428. Paratype: 1 ♀, Beitun (4713°N, E8718°E), Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, alt. 530 m, 20 July 1994, leg. LI Hou-Hun and QIN Hong-Yan."
