Stainton (1867: 57) meldete in seiner Erstbeschreibung: "Several cases were found by Herr Lederer, at Amasia, in April and May, on the upperside of the leaves of Phlomis; only one specimen (a female) was reared." Bei Anikin et al. (2017: 119) wird Phlomis pungens als Nahrungspflanze genannt.

Die Art wurde aus "Amasia" im asiatischen Teil der Türkei beschrieben. Nach der Fauna Europaea [Fauna Europaea, Version 2.4, last updated 27 January 2011] in Europa nicht nur im Süden des europäischen Teils Russlands, sondern auch in Rumänien nachgewiesen.

Toll (1952: 54) beschrieb das Synonym Coleophora subochrea nach einem einzigen ♀: « Diarbekin, Kurdistan. Le mâle est inconnu. Le type se trouve aux Museum zoologique de l'Université de Berlin. »
