Die Art wurde als Mitglied der Eulenfalter-Gattung Thalpochares (Noctuidae, Eublemminae) beschrieben.

Nach GlobiZ [abgefragt 12. Dezember 2015] ist Anthophilopsis Synonym zu Tegostoma.
