3. Weitere Informationen

3.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)

Hu et al. (2026: 69) erklären: "The specific name is derived from the Latin prefix ir- (= not) and rectangulatus (= right-angled), referring to the shape of the sacculus in the male genitalia."

The male genitalia of Sorolopha irirectangulata sp. nov. are superficially similar to those of four congeners, S. sphaerocopa (Meyrick, 1930), S. suthepensis Patibhakyothin & Pinkaew, 2015, S. asphaeropa Diakonoff, 1973, and S. asymmetrana Kuznetsov, 1988, but can be readily distinguished by its symmetrical valvae, whereas the other four species possess asymmetrical valvae. Additionally, the valvae of S. irirectangulata sp. nov. have naked necks that are longer than those in S. asphaeropa and S. asymmetrana. [...]".

Zum Barcode heißt es: "The partial mitochondrial COI sequence of the holotype has been deposited in GenBank under accession number PX852849. The average genetic distance between S. irirectangulata sp. nov. and other congeners was 9.48%, and the distance to its nearest neighbor was 7.16%; the nearest neighbor was S. elaeodes (Voucher numbers ANICB094-06 and ANICV1875-11). Because only the holotype was available for DNA extraction, intraspecific variation could not be assessed. Nevertheless, the observed interspecific divergence strongly supports the recognition of this new species as distinct."

3.3. Typenmaterial

Hu et al. (2026: 66) können nur auf den männlichen Holotypus verweisen: "Holotype: China • ♂; Yunnan Prov., Menghai, Damanlu village; 21°45'N, 100°9'E; alt. 1130 m; 1 Aug. 2019; K.J. Teng, C. Liu, and A.L. Wang leg.; genitalia slide no. YWX18319."
