3.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)
Povolný & Bradley (1964: 557): “We named this specied after our colleague Mr. Arthur Smith, to whom we are indebted for many entomological illustrations.”
3.2. Typenmaterial
Povolný & Bradley (1964: 557): “Holotype ♂, Algeria, El Kantara, 7. v. 1903 (Walsingham). Genitalia slide 10518.
Allotype ♀, same locality as holotype, dated 5. v. 1903 (Walsingham). Genitalia slide 10549.
Paratypes: same data as holotype, 2 ♂ 2 ♀; type locality, various dates from 4–11. v. 1903, 6 ♂ 3 ♀ (Walsingham); Biskra, 25. v. 1894 (Eaton), 2 ♀.”
3.3. Faunistik
Huemer & Karsholt (2010) bemerken, dass es hier viele Fehlbestimmungen gab, die auch in der Literatur ihren Niederschlag gefunden haben: "Locally distributed in Spain and the Ukraine (A. Bidzilya, pers. com.). Also recorded from North Africa, Turkey, the Near East (Syria, Lebanon), Mongolia (Povolný, 2002a: 70) and China (Bidzilya & Li, 2010). A record from Germany (Thüringen) (Steuer, 2002) is based on misidentification (Gerstberger, 2003: 138). Published records from France, Hungary (Szabòky et al. 2006: 71) and Austria are incorrect (see Remarks)."
