frigidaria: „frigidus kalt, weil nur in kalten nördlichen Gegenden vorkommend.“

3.5. Verbreitung

Die Beschreibung der Art erfolgte aus dem Norden Kanadas. In Europa tritt die subsp. frigidaria auf, die hier aber ebenfalls ganz auf den Norden beschränkt ist: äußerster Norden von Norwegen, Schweden und Finnland, Halbinsel Kola, nördlichste Bereiche des europäischen Teils von Russland (Hausmann & Viidalepp 2012).
