3.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)

Pavlova et al. (2026: 36) erklärten: "The specific name is a noun in apposition, derived from the generic name Squamura and the suffix -ides (-ίδης; resembling)."

3.2. Taxonomie und Faunistik

Lehmann (2019: 12) begann seine Einführung zu seiner Monographie der Metarbelidae mit den Worten "Worldwide 237 species of Metarbelidae occur that belong to 27 genera at present. No less than 218 species belonging to 24 genera are recorded from the Afrotropics" Er selbst untersuchte im Rahmen seiner Dissertation 442 Arten aus 60 Gattungen - auf eine Namensvergabe verzichtete er in diesem Rahmen, so dass die Taxa dort z.B. "Gen. Nov. ZH, sp. nov. zh" heißen. Pavlova et al. (2026) beschrieben 2 neue afrikanische Arten aus dieser Familie, für die sie eine neue Gattung aufstellten, Lvovskyella: "Externally, the new genus is most closely related to Squamura Heylaerts, 1890 (type species, by monotypy: Squamura maculata Heylaerts, 1890) (Figs 1D, 2D), from which it differs in several characters: a reduced pattern on the fore wing; a short, thick uncus; a thicker and longer gnathos with posterolateral processes densely covered with elongate setae; the absence of a scaphium; and a well-developed S-shaped sacculus with a distinct abdominal process."

Die beiden neuen Arten stammen aus dem Norden von Nigeria (L. alexandri) bzw. aus Burkina Faso (L. squamuroides). Die erste Art wurde nach 2 Faltern beschrieben, die hier abgehandelte zweite nach einem einzigen Exemplar.

Pavlova et al. (2026: 35) stellten zusammen: "Holotype. Male, “Obervolta [BURKINA FASO, Houet Prov.] / Bobo-Dioulasso [11°11′N 4°17′W] / 24.iv.[19]80 / leg. Dr. Politzar”, “Prozorov / Preparat. / Loan 2025 / 1619”, “HOLOTYPUS / Lvovskyella squamuroides sp. n. / P. Pavlova, Müller / Prozorov & Yakovlev, 2026 / Prozorov des., 2026” (CGM)."
