Nedumpally et al. (2025: 17) kamen in ihrer umfangreichen genetischen Studie - unter Einbeziehung diverser Gene der Kern-DNA - zum Schluss, dass die bisherige "Senta flammea" in Leucania integriert werden muss: "our analysis recovered Melia flammea Curtis, 1828 (type species of Senta Stephens, 1834) (Figure 6f), as sister to Leucania Ochsenheimer, 1816, a result that agrees with the particular abdominal brush organs of the two groupings appearing morphologically reconcilable (Zilli & Di Giulio, 1996), and the clade comprising these two genera in turn appeared as sister to a lineage comprising the majority of Mythimna Ochsenheimer, 1816, species including M. turca (Linnaeus, 1761), the type species of this genus (Figure 5). These phylogenetic relationships received maximum statistical support (Figure 5) and fully support the sinking of Senta into Leucania (syn. rev.) as originally proposed by Zilli and di Giulio (1996), which results in a combination L. flammea (Curtis, 1828) (comb. rev.) for its type species."
