Fibiger et al. (2010) erläutern: "This is not a strictly European species. One specimen was collected at Lee, Kent, Great Britain, in August 1956 (Bradley 1960, Bretherton 1983). Recently, several specimens were taken at Bilbao docks, N Spain, on June 1998, where ships download American soya, the main foodplant of H. scabra ... The moth was abundant around the docks for at least a couple of days, but then disappeared and was never observed, again."
