3.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)

Van der Wolf (2015) erläutert seine Namenswahl: "The species name refers to the sabre-like processus of the sacculus. Old Persian shamshir = curved like at tiger’s claw. It is also the name of the well-known crooked sabre, the scimitar."

Die Art ist bisher nur vom Typenfundort im Süden von Tadschikistan bekannt.
