3.1. Taxonomie und Faunistik

Die aus Algerien beschriebene Art wurde später auch in Tunesien gefunden. Baldizzone & Huemer (2026: 43-44) überraschen mit Meldungen aus Kirgisistan: "1 ♂, 1 ♀, Kyrgyzstan (K59), Umgebung Toktogul See, 1084m, 14.6.2022, leg. P. Huemer, gen. slides Bldz 18515 ♂, 18514 ♀, DNA Barcode IDs TLMF_Lep_46884, 46885 (coll. TLMF)." Doch ihre Barcode-Daten geben zu denken: "BIN: BOLD:ACB1346. The intraspecific average p-distance of the barcode region is 0.43% (n=11). The minimum p-distance to the Nearest Neighbor, a second BIN of Coleophora honestella from Tunisia in BOLD, is 3.21% (BIN: BOLD:ABV9530) (n=1)." Der Unterschied zwischen diesn zwei BINs aus Tunesien und Kirgisistan ist groß genug, als dass hier zwei getrennte Arten dahinter stecken könnten. Die Autoren vermerken daher auch: "The species was previously known only from North Africa. The genital structure of the Kyrgyz specimens is similar to that of African specimens. However, genetic distances indicate possible cryptic diversity and require further taxonomic assessment." Zur Gesamtverbreitung heißt es jetzt: ""Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya. unpublished records of the same BIN from Uzbekistan, Tadjikistan, Kazakhstan and Russia. New for Kyrgyzstan."

Toll (1952: 46) beschrieb die Art nach einem einzigen ♀: « Algérie, El Mesrane, mâle est inconnu. Le type se trouve en juin, trouvée par Predota. Le mâle est inconnue. Le type se trouve dans la collection de l'Institut national d'entomologie de Rome. »
