3.1. Etymologie (Namenserkklärung)

Li (2004: 318) erklärt: "The specific name of this new species is derived from the Latin gemm- (= bud) and - formis (= shape), in reference to the bud-like process at the apex of the right juxtal rod."

3.2. Taxonomie

Nach Li (2004: 314) gehört die Art in die "Coleophora sternipennella group". Am meisten Ähnlichkeit besteht zu Coleophora versurella.

3.3. Faunistik

Die Art wurde nach einem einzigen Männchen aus Tibet (China) beschrieben.

3.4. Typenmaterial

Li (2004: 3186) informiert: "Holotype ♂, Nyingchi (Pula) (2915°N, 9413°E) , Xizang (Tibet) Autonomous Region, alt. 2900 m, 11 July 1983, leg. LI Hou-Hun, genitalia slide No. L97006."
