Die Art ist nach ihrem locus typicus Knossos auf der griechischen Insel Kreta benannt.

Baldizzone (1983: 219) beschrieb die Art nach einem einzigen ♂: “Holotypus ♂ (Bldz 4465): “Creta, dint. di Knossos, 4.VIII.1973, leg. Baldizzone”, coll. Baldizzone, Asti.”
