Tabell (2023: 174) äußert eine Vermutung: “In Azrou few bushes of a robust Dianthus sp. grow on the collecting locality, which is a probable host plant of the new species.” Richter & Šumpich (2026: 7) melden zum Lebensraum: "The Spanish sites have the character of xerothermic steppe in the Sierra de Alhamilla (Almería) (Figure 14) and dry riverine habitat in the Sierra de Cabrera (Almería)."

3.1. Taxonomie und Faunistik

Tabell (2023: 174) beschrieb seine neue Art von drei Fundorten in Marokko: Imlil (Bergdorf im Hohen Atlas südlich Marakesch), 2,5 km NW Azrou im Mittleren Atlas in der Provinz Ifrane und nahe dabei Meknès-Tafilalet, Azrou - alles in Höhenlagen von 1215 - 1680 m. Demnach war nich zwingend zu erwarten, dass die Artauch in Europa vorkommen könnte. Doch Richter & Šumpich (2026: 7) melden die Art jetzt auch von 2 Fundorten in der Provinz Almería im Süden Spaniens: "Sierra de Alhamilla, route Turrilas - Pico Colativi" und " Sierra Cabrera, Mojacar env., El Agua del Medio". Sie merken dazu an: "This species was recently separated from the widely distributed C. dianthi by Tabell (Tabell et al. 2023) based on minor differences in the genitalia of both sexes and supported by DNA analysis. The distance to the nearest neighbour, C. dianthi, is 2.18% (p-dist)." - Die Art könnte demnach in Spanien noch weiter verbreitet und bisher nur übersehen worden sein.
