Lederer (1870: 41+52) beschrieb seine neue Art nach einem Männchen aus Achalziche [Akhalzikhe, Akhaltsikhe, ახალციხე] in Georgien. Slamka (2008: 60) nennt noch einen Fund aus der Türkei: "Prov. Bingöl, Basköy pass, 2200 m (Ganev & Hacker, 1995)." Er vermutete, dass eine Angabe aus dem Elburs-Gebirge des Iran zu der später beschriebenen Catoptria pfeifferi gehören könnte, allerdings wiesen Roohigohar et al. (2016: 479) die Art tatsächlich im Elbursgebirge nach: "Material: Āzarbāijān-e Gharbi Prov. 1 ♀, 1 ♀: Māku. Distribution: Caucasus and Transcaucasia (the type locality of the species); Iran: Elburz Mt., Lar valley (AMSEL, 1961; BLESZYŃSKI, 1965); Turkey (GANEV & HACKER, 1985; SLAMKA, 2008)."
