4.2. Faunistik
Stephens (1834: 49) beschrieb seine neue Art nach einem einzelnen Weibchen aus Devon in Devonshire (Großbritannien). Nach Slamka (2013: 137) war dies für sehr lange Zeit der einzige Nachweis weltweit: "This species is known in the southeastern United States from Georgia and Louisiana; until recently it was known only from the female holotype (Solis, 2010)." Er vermerkt: "Native of North America, probably imported in 19th century to England from where it was described by Stephens." Ob das Tier unbemerkt lebendig nach England verschleppt oder nur fehletikettiert wurde, wird sich wohl nie mehr klären lassen.

Nach Solis (2010: 456-457) trägt der weibliche Holotypus im BMNH folgende Etiketten: "‘‘Holotype’’ [round red-bordered label]; ‘‘Devon’’ handwritten [square white label]; ‘‘Type’’ handwritten [square white label]; ‘‘centrostrigalis’’ handwritten [oblong white label]; ‘‘B.M. Pyralidae Genitalia slide No. 8520’’ [square white label]; ‘‘TYPE PHOTOGRAPHED’’ printed [oblong blue label]; ‘‘Stephens Coll./Botys centrostrigalis/Named by Steph.’’ Printed/ handwritten label [square white label]; ‘‘centrostrigalis Steph.’’ handwritten label [oblong white label]."
