3.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)
Baldizzone (2003: 238): “Il nome gibberosa deriva da un aggettivo latino, che significa “gobbo” e questo vuole ricordare le espansioni esterne delle braccia del tegumen.”
3.2. Faunistik
Das Taxon wird in der Fauna Europaea und auch in der Europa-Checkliste von [Ignaz Richter, abgefragt 26.10.2017] nicht erwähnt (synonymisiert oder übersehen?). Van der Wolff (2009) listet 84 Exemplare von Fuerteventura auf und erläutert: "This species was described after one male specimen from Algeria in the Walsingham collection (Baldizzone, 2003). It is new for the Canary Islands. The abundant material from Fuerteventura now enables me to describe the female genitalia.".

Baldizzone (2003: 237) beschrieb die Art nach einem einzigen ♂: “Holotypus ♂: “Biskra, ALGERIA, 31-III-1903. Wlsm. 89335” (a stampa, col numero a mano); “Walsingham Collection, 1910-427” (a stampa); “B.M. Genitalia slide No. 29853 ♂” (a stampa, col numero scritto a mano); “HOLOTYPUS ♂, Coleophora gibberosa G. Baldizzone, 2003” (rosso, a stampa). Collezione BMNH.”
