2.1. Nahrung der Raupe

• [Fagaceae:] Quercus alnifolia (Erlenblättrige Eiche)

Die Typenserie wurde aus Quercus alnifolia gezogen. Da diese Art an der zweiten Fundstelle bei Nikokleia fehlt, geht Barton (2015) davon aus, dass noch weitere Pflanzen (nur Eichen?) genutzt werden.

3.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)

Tokár & Jaworski (2015) schreiben: "The species is named after Jacek Hilszczański, Professor of the Forest Research Institute in Sękocin Stary (Poland) who collected the larvae in Cyprus."

3.2. Faunistik

Nach momentaner Kenntnis dürfte es sich bei der erst 2015 beschriebenen Art um einen Endemiten von Zypern halten. Die Art war zunächst nur vom Typenfundort im Westen von Zypern in ca. 800 m Höhe bekannt. Barton (2015: 161) fand sie aber auch bei Nikokleia, also fast auf Meereshöhe und knapp 50 km weiter nach SSW auf derselben Insel: "Batia sp., a new species recently described by Tokár & Jaworski, in press. All Nikokleia: 28.ix.2013, : ♀♀ specimens IB1117, gen. prep. IBCy238 and IB1118; 27.ix.2014, specimens IB2007 and IB2008; 28.ix.2014, specimen IB2030 and ♂ specimen IB2031, gen. prep. IBCy790; 30.ix.2014, specimen IB2076; 01.x.2014, specimen IB2097. These records indicate that it is not tied to Quercus alnifolia, which is endemic to ophiolite rock from 400 to 1800 m in the Troodos (MOA, 2014), from which the holotype and paratype specimens were bred."

Jaworski, coll. ISEZ. Paratypes: 5♂, same data as holotype, all leg. J. Hilszczański, Gp ZT M 12056, 12062, 12079, coll. ZT & T. Jaworski; 1♀, same data as holotype, Gp ZT W 12083, leg. J. Hilszczański, coll. ZT."
