Die Art scheint auf Großbritannien und Irland beschränkt zu sein. In der Fauna Europaea [Fauna Europaea, last update 29 August 2013, version 2.6.2] ist dazu zu lesen: "Almost all continental European records of Stigmella 'spinosissimae' actually refer to Stigmella rolandi; the record from the Channel islands (GB-CI: (Shaffer, M. 2008)) is based on vacated mines only and should be deleted (pers. comm. Ph. Sterling, the collector)."

Locus typicus nach Waters (1928): "[...] on some coast sandhills at Llandudno (Caernarvon) [Großbritannien, Wales, Clwyd, Llandudno und Caernarfon], where the pretty burnet-rose manages (with some difficulty) to hold its own against golfers and holiday-makers."
