McQuillan (1985: 192): “The specific name is an aboriginal word meaning “snow” in reference to the species' range at high altitudes in the Snowy Mountains of south-eastern Australia.”

McQuillan (1985: 192): “Holotype ♂, labelled “Mt. Ginini A.C.T. 5200 ft., 9 January 1957, I.F.B. Common” Registration number 3316 (ANIC).” — Paratypes: 6 ♂♂ and 9 ♀♀, all from Australia.
