• Lotongus onara adorabilis Fruhstorfer, 1911 [Originalkombination]

2.2. Taxonomie und Faunistik

Fruhstorfer (1911: 18) beschrieb seinen "Lotongus onara adorabilis" aus Nordost-Sumatra. Das Taxon wurde später als Synonym zu Zela excellens gestellt. Chiba et al. (2026: 513) sehen in Z. adorabilis eine eigenständige Art: " We have not yet sequenced specimens from Sumatra, which is the type locality of Lotongus onara adorabilis Fruhstorfer, 1911, to test the hypothesis about its synonymy with Palawanese Z. excellens more rigorously. However, searching the BOLD database (Ratnasingham & Hebert 2007) with the COI barcode sequence of Z. excellens lectotype we find that it differs by 2.4% (16 bp) from a specimen voucher 607 MCZ (GenBank: KY019945) collected in Trang, Thailand (Sahoo et al. 2016), which is close to the type locality of L. onara adorabilis. Therefore, we reinstate Zela adorabilis (Fruhstorfer, 1911), stat. rest. as a species-level taxon. Species-level distinction for phenotypically similar taxa described from the Philippines including Palawan and Malaya-Sumatra is not uncommon and does not come as a surprise provided species-level genetic differentiation." Die 2,4 % Barcoding-Abstand bei nur Einzelproben und das auch noch abseits des Typenfundorts warnen zur Vorsicht - hier ist das letzte Wort wohl noch nicht gesprochen.
