Van Nieukerken & Johansson (2003) schreiben zur Verbreitung: "Widespread in Portugal and Spain, particularly inland, but probably less common than suberivora. In France (new record) known from old specimens along the Atlantic coast near Bordeaux and in the Hérault and the Côte d’Azur near Cannes; to be expected along the Italian Riviera and in North Africa. Often sympatric with S. suberivora. Frequently found in mountains; recorded from sea level up to 2200 m in the Sierra Nevada." Nieukerken et al. (2004) erwähnen S. ilicifoliella als erste in Andorra nachgewiesene Nepticulidae-Art.
