2.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)

Baraniak (2007: 68): “The name of this species is a dedicated [sic] to famous Finish lepidopterologist the late Jorma Kyrki, in honour of his achievements in the taxonomy of the supermalily Yponomeutoidea.”

2.3. Taxonomie und Faunistik

Baraniak (2007) revidiert die bisherige Gattung Plutella und teilt sie dabei in 3 Gattungen ein, die in der Fauna Europaea [Fauna Europaea, last update 23 July 2012, version 2.5] aber nur als Untergattungen gewertet werden. Baraniak (2007) schreibt in seinem abstract: "The genus Plutella Schrank 1802 from the Palaearctic region is revised and redescribed on the basis of examination of over 1800 specimens in different institutional and private collections. Two new genera are described: Plutelloptera and Pseudoplutella. Three new species are described and illustrated: Plutella karsholtella from Canary Isles, Plutelloptera huemerella from France and Plutelloptera kyrkella from Russia." Die Fauna Europaea akzeptiert alle 3 neuen Arten, wobei sie „Plutelloptera“ aber nicht als eigenständige Gattung, sondern nur als Untergattung von Plutella gelten lässt.

Nach momentaner Kenntnis kommt die Art in Russland nur im asiatischen Teil vor. Sinev (2019: 47) führt sie nur von der Region 24 (Горно-Алтайский регион: Республика Алтай), also aus dem Altai an, von wo P. kyrkella beschrieben wurde.

Baraniak (2007: 64): “Holotype 1 ♂, (Russia) USSR, SW-Altai, 15 km S Katanda, Bert Kum, 2000-2500m, 10-14.07.1983, Exp. Mikkola, Hippa, Jalava, (prep. gen. A288/J. Kyrki, previously determined as P. hyberboreella).” — Paratypen: 1 ♂ und 1 ♀, ersteres vom Typenfundort, letzteres 22 km nördlich davon.
