Glassberg (2023: 38) beschrieb das Taxon als Unterart nach einem einzigen Falter: “The specimen selected to be the holotype specimen of Pholisora catullus albicirrus Glassberg, is located in the U.S. National Museum, Smithsonian Institution. A red label is being added to the holotype for future recognition.” — Beschriftung des auf derselben Seite abgebildeten, beigefarbenen Etiketts: “MADERA CANYON | SANTA RITA MTS., ARIZ. | 22 Aug. 1946 | S. S. NICOLAY”.
