Lindeborg & Bengtsson (2009) kommen zum Schluss: "The systematic position is briefly considered but cannot be established for the present as the genitalia morphology does not fit to any recognized subfamily in Tineidae."

Lindeborg & Bengtsson (2009) melden: "The tineid moth Pelecystola fraudulentella (Zeller, 1852) has been discovered in Sweden, Småland, Bäckebo, Grytsjön. This is the second known specimen of this species. The type specimen was found in Slovenia, Ljubljana around 1850." Gaedike & Tokár (2010) berichten über eine dritte Fundstelle, diesmal in der Slowakei.
