Evans ([1956]: 885) beschrieb das Taxon als Melphina malthina f. hulstaerti: “♀, Eanza, Equateur, Belgian Congo : Aug. 1940 : type Musée Royal du Congo Belge : also a second specimen from Flandria ; Oct. 1931, and a third from Bondombe, April 1940. ♀, F. 17 mm. As malthina except that on unh discal band narrow, 3 mm. and continued to the apex.”

Das Titelblatt des Heftes 96 trägt die Datierung “December 1955” sowie in der Bibliothek des SDEI Müncheberg einen angehefteten, gedruckten Zettel “We regret that due to a dispute in the Printing Industry the publication of all our Journals is unavoidably delayed.” Eingangsstempel des Deutschen Entomologischen Instituts auf der ersten Seite der Arbeit von Evans: „12. März 1956“.
