2.2. Taxonomie und Faunistik

Wileman (1910: 291) beschrieb seine Art nach einem einzelnen Falter aus "Arizan" in Formosa (jetzt: Taiwan). Jiang et al. (2015: 8) vermerkten zum taxonomischen Status und zur Verbreitung: "This species was incorrectly treated as a subspecies of M. flavimargo by Werny (1966). The treatment was accepted by Zhao (2004). Laszlo et al. (2007) restored Macrothyatira flavimargo arizana (Wileman, 1910) to specific rank." Sie unterscheiden die nominotypische Unterart von Taiwan von ssp. diminuta (Houlbert, 1921) aus den chinesischen Provinzen Sichuan und Yunnan.
