Endemit von Madeira. Wakeham-Dawson et al. (2002) schreiben dazu: "The records (Figure 7, Table 6) show that Hipparchia maderensis was widely distributed at all altitudes, but especially common at altitudes above 1000 m with hundreds being observed at a time."
