3.2. Taxonomie

Hacker (1985) beschrieb das Taxon als Unterart von Euxoa inclusa. Fibiger (1997) vermutete noch, dass es sich hier möglicherweise doch eher nur um eine Unterart von Euxoa hilaris handelte. In der Europa-Checklist von Fibiger & Hacker (2006) und in der Fauna Europaea (Fauna Europaea Web Service. Last update 22 December 2009. Version 2.1. [nicht mehr online verfügbar]) wurde das Taxon hingegen als eigenständige Art akzeptiert. Varga et al.(2025) behandeln das Taxon ebenfalls auf Artebene.

3.3. Faunistik

Das Verbreitungsgebiet dieser Art ist klein und gut bekannt. Varga et al. (2025: 52) erklären dazu: "The species is only known from the high altitude region of the Falakro Mts (NE Greece, Drama). This region shows expressed biogeographic connections with the western Anatolian fauna, therefore the presence of a species of a west Asiatic Pleonectopoda lineage can be explained as a relic of a former expansion of this species group. It is important to note that no recent records of this Pleonectopoda lineage are known between the Falakro Mts and the Ulu Dagh, therefore E. (P.) derrae, which is fairly frequent in the high montane ranges of the Falakro Mts, can be considered as an endemism of this massif."

3.4. Typenmaterial

Varga et al. (2025: 52) teilen zum Holotypus mit: "Holotype male, "GRIECHENLAND | 41°18' N 24°04' E | Phalakron Oros | Chionotrypa 1700 m | 6 km SÖ Volas | 16.VII.1984 LF | leg. Herm. Hacker" (coll. ZSM)". Auch die Paratypen stammen aus dem gleichen Gebiet.
