Walker ([1858]: 1218) beschrieb seine Ophideres serpentifera nach 2 Exemplaren aus "St. Domingo" [Dominikanische Republik] und "Rio Janeiro" [Brasilien].

Nach [Global Biodiversity Information Facility] kommt die Art in Mexiko, Costa Rica, Kolumbien, Ecuador, Französisch-Guayana, Nicaragua, Panama, Brasilien, Guatemala, Bolivien, Honduras, Peru, USA [Colorado], Puerto Rico und Venezuela vor.

Borth & Kons (2022: 15) schreiben dazu passend zur Verbreitung: "Eudocima serpentifera ranges from Brazil and Peru to Mexico and the west Indies. A single U.S. record from Louisiana is illustrated in Brou (2006). In Costa Rica it feeds on Disciphania calocarpa (Menispermaceae) (Janzen & Hallwachs 2009)."
