3.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)

Bidzilya & Rajaei (2026: 25) erklären: "The new species is named in honor of Anthonie Johannes Theodorus Janse, the famous specialist in South African Lepidoptera, who first recognize this species as new. "

3.2. Taxonomie und Faunistik

Bidzilya & Rajaei (2026: 25) diagnostizieren: "The new species is similar externally to E. permanus sp. nov., but larger (wingspan in E. jansei sp. nov.: 12.0 mm, in E. permanmus sp. nov.: 10.0 mm). The male genitalia of the new species are unique among the genus Ephysteris in having phallus bearing two apical arms (apical arms are absent or represented by one arm in rest of known Ephysteris species)."

Die Art wurde aus Südafrika (Gauteng Province) beschrieben und ist bisher nur durch das Typenmaterial bekannt.

Bidzilya (TMSA); 1 ♂, South Africa, Gauteng, Magaliesburg, Golden Valley, Steenkoppies transect, grassland, 1550 m, 26°01’35’’S 27°32’32’’E, Gh15: Carltonville, Dolomite Grassland, Top Trap, 8.x.2011, leg. H.S. Staude; gen. slide 156/26, O. Bidzilya (SMNS)."
