3.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)
Kaila et al. (2025: 111) erklären: "Adopted from the Latin words granum (seed, small kernel, pellet) and cornu, -us (horn). This refers to the somewhat horn-shaped cornutus, surrounded by the apically granulose vesica. It is adjusted to feminine gender to follow that of the generic name Elachista. A noun in apposition."
3.2. Taxonomie
Kaila et al. (2025) besprechen die Art in der "Elachista bedellella group (Gelechioidea, Elachistidae, Elachistinae) similar with E. rudectella Stainton, 1851 and E. graeca Parenti, 2002". Anders als bei E. afghana können sie hier auch Barcode-Daten des Holotypus liefern: "Intraspecific divergence distance N/A (n = 1) (http://tun.fi NH476, DNA sample FinBOL 2021) Nearest neighbor is E. atrisquamosa Staudinger, 1880 with 6.8 % divergence."
3.3. Faunistik
Die Art ist bisher nur durch den Holotypus aus Tadschikistan bekannt.
