2.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)
Suênia-Bastos et al. (2026: 341) erklären die Namenswahl: "The name is in honour of the son of the first author of the species, Carlos Guilherme Costa Mielke. The specific epithet is treated as a noun in apposition."
2.2. Taxonomie und Faunistik
Suênia-Bastos et al. (2026: 338) diskutieren: "As in E. (E.) metallescens metallescens, E. (E.) carlos, sp. nov., resembles E. (E.) eudoxus and E. (E.) kanshul, mentioned above, but differs from both in the presence of three subapical spots on the FW (E. (E.) eudoxus lacks subapical spots (see Warren et al. 2024 for original illustration of Stoll available); E. (E.) kanshul has four subapical spots (see Shuey 1991)). Based on the wing patterns, E. (E.) carlos, sp. nov., is very similar to E. (E.) metallescens metallescens, and can be reliably identified only through examination of the genitalia. [...]". Bemerkenswerterweise fanden sie ihre neue Art fast über das ganze riesige Verbreitungsgebiet von E. metallescens metallescens hinweg: "Ectomis (Ectomis) carlos O. Mielke, Suênia-Bastos & Casagrande, sp. nov. is distributed in Panama (Colón), Colombia (Meta), Peru (Loreto, Huánuco and Madre de Dios), and Brazil (Amazonas, Acre, Pará, Rondônia, Maranhão, Pernambuco and Alagoas), occurring together with E. (E.) metallescens metallescens in Peru (Madre de Dios) and Brazil (Acre). This species occurs up to 700 meters and flies in January, June, and from August to December."

(2026: 341-342) listen ihr Typenmaterial: "Holotype male was deposited in the DZUP, with the following labels: / HOLOTYPUS / Brasil, Pará, Paraupebas, Parque Nacional Campos Ferruginosos, Base Gavião Real, 16–18-VI-2023; 6°09'53"S, 50°21'03"W, 400 m, Carneiro, Casagrande, Orlandin & Mielke leg./ DZ 75.403 / BC-DZ / Ectomis (Ectomis) carlos O. Mielke, Suênia-Bastos & Casagrande det. 2026 /. Allotype female was deposited in the DZUP, with the following labels: / ALLOTYPUS / [Brasil], Maranhão, Imperatriz, Açailândia [now considered a municipality], 23-VIII-1974, Mielke leg. / DZ 31.632 / Ectomis (Ectomis) carlos O. Mielke, Suênia-Bastos & Casagrande det. 2026 /. Paratypes (33 specimens [29 males and 4 females]): [...]" Die Paratypen stammen dabei aus den 4 genannten Ländern: Panama, Kolumbien, Peru und verschiedenen Regionen Brasiliens.
