2. Diagnosee

2.1. Falter

Pellinen & Mutanen (2019: 576) geben den wichtigen Hinweis: "Figures of this species are illustrated in the Moths of Thailand Vol. 3, part two (Kononenko & Pinratana 2013) as unidentified sp. Plate 42, no 51–52."

4. Weitere Informationen

4.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)

Pellinen & Mutanen (2019: 577) erklären: "The species name refers of the strong spikes in valvae of the male genitalia."

4.2. Taxonomie und Faunistik

Pellinen & Mutanen (2019: 577) erklären: "Forewing color brown-grey, slightly paler than most other species and also differing by two red blotches on the postmedial line, one close to costa and the other close to the tornus. There is also a red blotch next to subbasal line. White spot in hindwing is small and roundish and, as in E. obscura, two white sections on the fringes are clearly visible. Male genitalia differ from those of other congeners in having spikes at the base of the sacculus."

Zu ihrer genetischen Einordnung ist zu erfahren: "The DNA barcode sequence of E. spiculivalva differs from that of E. dulcistriga by 4.9%. Of the species occurring in Thailand, that with the most similar barcode sequence is E. grisescens (at 6.73%)."

The collected specimen showed striking morphological similarity to the known species E. spiculivalva with a slight fuscous colour change in the forewing, which made the first author tentatively identify it as E. longinquua. However, upon detailed genitalia studies and comparison with other known taxa, it was revealed that the species was E. spiculivalva because of the three spikes present in the middle of the sacculus. The presence of spikes is unique, which segregates all other known species, hence the name spiculivalva (Figure 2). Auf Barcoding als letzte Absicherung wurde verzichtet. Der Fundort in rund 1.000 m Höhe spricht gegen Verschleppung.

4.3. Typenmaterial

Pellinen & Mutanen (2019: 577) listen ihr Typenmaterial aus dem Norden Thailands: "Holotype male: Thailand, Lampang, Muban Phichai, 09.vii.2009, 240 m, 18°18’15’’N,99°31’06’’E, M. J.
