2.1. Nahrung der Raupe
- [Stereaceae:] Xylobolus sp.
Park et al. (2026: 353) erklärten: "The larvae feed on fruiting bodies of Stereaceae fungi (Xylobolus sp.) growing on dead wood bark. The larvae produce a silk-and-frass shelter on the surface of the substrate, under which they hide when not feeding. Pupations also occur under this cover. Label data indicate that the adults were obtained from Polyporaceae fungi (Trametes versicolor) and Lauraceae wood bark (Machilus thunbergii). Larvae were also collected from the dead wood bark."

Is., Tsushima Is., Yakushima Is., Okinawajima Is., Ishigakijima Is.). See remarks for the record about Yakushima Is., Okinawajima Is., Ishigakijima Is." Die Anmerkungen S. 353 lauten: "Sakai (2013) recorded this species not only from Tokyo, Honshu but also from Yakushima Island, Okinawajima Island, and Ishigakijima Island and illustrated the adult specimen from Ishigakijima, and the female genitalia without locality information. The female genitalia of D. trapezoides differ from those of Sakai (2013) in the width of the ostium (0.6× width of sternite VIII in this species, 0.3× width of sternite VIII in Sakai (2013)). Therefore, we concluded that the female genitalia illustrated as D. trapezoides in Sakai (2013) were a misidentification and represent an undescribed species. The adult specimen from Ishigakijima illustrated by Sakai (2013) exhibits a somewhat darker body coloration. However, species-level identification cannot be determined based on the published image. We withhold judgment on the validity of the extra-Honshu distribution records reported by Sakai (2013), as we were unable to examine the specimens used in that study or additional material from the Ryukyu Islands."
Die Autoren stellten weiter fest: "In the phylogenetic analysis, eight specimens of D. orientalis sp. nov. formed a sister group to two specimens of D. epischista (Meyrick, 1936) with high support (ML 99%, MP 100%; Fig. 1). The two Japanese species formed a single clade with D. heindeli Gaedike & Scholz, 1998 from Germany and D. terpsichorella (Busck, 1910) from the United States (bootstrap support = 91 in the ML analysis)."
The intraspecific pairwise distances of this species were 0.00–2.64% (n=10). This species was divided into the northern Kyushu lineage and the Hokkaido–Honshu–Tsushima lineage, and the pairwise distances between the lineages ranged from 1.38 to 2.64% (Fig. 1). See Remarks below."
VIII. 1934, S. Issiki leg., NHMUK 014045895, NHMUK. (hereby designated). Paralectotype: 1♂, Japan, Tokyo, 19. VII. 1932, S. Issiki leg., NHMUK 014584990, NHMUK."
