2.1. Falter

Schon Elwes & Edwards (1897: 128) betonten in ihrer Erstbeschreibung: "This species is distinguished from agni in the first place by its dark umber-brown colour and the dark umber-brown fringe to cells 6 and 7 on the hind wings below; the pale fringe to these cells is not absolutely constant in agni, but is well marked in 4 out of the 5 male specimens examined. The male genitalia also differ considerably : in agnioides there is a large dorsal crest on the tegumen and the upper lobe of the clasp is merely a very small pointed strap-shaped piece; in agni the back of the tegumen is simple and the upper lobe of the clasp is at least as wide as the lower lobe, rounded on the upper edge and triangularly pointed."

3.1. Taxonomie und Faunistik

Elwes & Edwards (1897: 128) beschrieben ihre neue Art von den Naga Hills ganz im Nordosten Indiens: "The type in coll. Elwes was taken in the Naga Hills by Mr. Doherty."

Huang (2021: 570) erklärte zur Verbreitung: "NE. India; N. Myanmar; Thailand; Laos; N. & C. Vietnam; Malaysia; S. China (Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi, Yunnan)."
