De Nicéville ([1884]: 87) beschrieb die Art von Sikkim ("at low elevations").
Huang (2021: 574) nennt für die nominotypische Unterart: "N. & NE. India; Myanmar; C. & SE: Thailand; Laos; S. China (Guangxi, Yunnan)". Die Tiere von Hainan gehören nach seiner Einschätzung einer eigenen Unterart an, die weder mit C. agni agni noch mit C. agni sundae [jetzt als getrennte Art C. sundae geführt] von den Sunda-Inseln (locus typicus: Sumatra, sonst Java, Borneo, Bali) identisch ist. Dem Abstract von Li et al. (2024) ist zu entnehmen: "By reexamining the taxonomic status of Coladenia agni (de Nicéville, [1884]) from different localities, the insular population from Hainan Island is described as a new subspecies, i.e., C. a. huanghaoi Li & Liu ssp. nov., based on morphological and genetic distinctions. The habitus, distributional map, and molecular phylogeny of all subspecies of C. agni are provided with remarks on ssp. sundae de Jong & Treadaway, 1992. Furthermore, some less-discussed characteristics on the hind tibiae are also illustrated and discussed."
Sajan & Sapkota (2022: 2728) melden die Art erstmals für Nepal, allerdings nur nach einem einzelnen toten Exemplar am Straßenrand: "An individual was found dead on a forest-side street in Godavari, Lalitpur District, on 8 October 2021 at 1,574m (Figure 6.A). It was different from the related C. agnioides Elwes & Edwards, 1897 in having its antennae uniformly black (plain), which, in C. agnioides, is distinctly white below the club (Evans 1949). According to Huang (2021), the best way to differentiate C. agni from C. agnioides is by looking at its palpi. In C. agni, the palpi have grey scales suffused among pale yellow scales (Figure 6.D), while in C. agnioides, the palpi are bright yellow. Moreover, the third segment of the palpus in C. agni is yellowish, which is mostly black in C. agnioides (Huang H 2021, pers. comm.). In India, it ranges from Sikkim to N.E. India (Varshney and Smetacek 2015), so it is very likely to be found farther east of Lalitpur as well."
