Kemal & Koçak (2005: 44) brachten die Originalbeschreibung in einer Fußnote unter:

“Cigaritis uighurica (sp.n.). This new species is distributed in South East Turkey and Van Lake basin. It is easily distinguished from related species in Turkey Cigaritis minima by its extremely larger size of the wings. Holotype ♂: Turkey: Malatya Province: Malatya, 1100m 1972, A. Ö. Koçak leg. (Cesa). Paratypes: 55 ♂♀: From various provinces of Turkey, including Van, collected by the authors between 1973 and 2005 (Cesa). 2♀: Van Province: Gevaş, İnköy 1800-2000m 2.7.2003, 11.7.2003 (in coll. H.Özkol, YYU). This species is dedicated to the Uighur people for their founded Eretna State in Central and East Anatolia in 14th Century.”
