3.3. Taxonomie

Die Art wurde als "Cossus henleyi" beschrieben, dann in die Gattung Paropta verschoben, von Schoorl (1990) weiter in dessen neu aufgestellte Gattung Alcterogystia. Auch Yakovlev (2011: 11) schuf nochmals eine neue Gattung - Camellocossus - mit Cossus abyssinica als Typusart und C. henleyi und C. osmanya als weitere Vertreter. Er führt Cossus niloticus und - mit Unsicherheitsfaktor - Paropta pharaonis als Synonyme von C. henleyi.
