Grishin (2025: 37) beschrieb die Art nach einem einzigen Falter: “Holotype: ♂ deposited in the Museum für Naturkunde, Berlin, Germany (MFNB), illustrated in Fig. 21a, bears the following five rectangular labels (³rd handwritten, others printed with handwritten text shown in italics), four white: [ Palawan | 92 Platen ], [ ♀ wohl auch | blau oben | (Erh.) vide K 26. ], [ Coll. | Staudinger ], [ DNA sample ID: | NVG-23079F03 | c/o Nick V. Grishin ], and one red [ HOLOTYPE ♂ | Burara lawana | Grishin ]. According to its 1st label, the holotype was collected by Carl Constantin Platen (1843–1927) in 1892 (the handwritten 92 is written over printed 88).”
