Rajaei & al. (2023: 132) halten das angebliche Vorkommen im Iran für eine Fehlbestimmung: “Bucculatrix pomifoliella is a N American species (type locality: USA, Eastern Pennsylvania). A record of this species by Shahrokhi et al. (1986) from Khorasan has been repeated by other authors (Radjabi 2011b; Alipanah & Moodi 2017) without examination of any further specimens. However, this record (Shahrokhi et al. 1986) is likely a misidentification of another species close to B. pomifoliella.”
